TBX must be installed on the same machine as the QBDT program.
Purchase the SERVER edition if the QuickBooks program AND the company data file are installed on a hosted or local server. You do not need the server edition if the QuickBooks program is installed on a PC but the company data file is stored on a local server. If you remote into a machine, determine if you are accessing a Server or an individual PC before buying.
